Please feel free to use the following questions, ideas, and tools to enhance your appreciation of the book. (This list will continue to grow.) Links to the new Common Core Standards are provided.
1. How do the author and illustrator go about telling this story? After looking through the book, take a few minutes and listen to the way the author sings the book’s song. This is just one possible interpretation. What is the mood of the song? What is the origin of the song and the book? How would you sing the song? Plan out your approach, share it with your family and friends, and then record and listen to your version. How would you describe your interpretation? Write down your responses and review them.
